Donations and Book Sales

Please consider supporting Washington County Library by donating current books, CDs, and DVDs that are in good condition. Your donation helps to maintain Washington County Library’s role as a gateway to knowledge and citizens’ primary destination for information, ideas, education, and recreation.

Donated items may be added to the collection or sold in the library’s used book sales. Donations can be dropped off at any Washington County Library branch

We accept donations of the following items: We’re unable to accept the following items:
  • Hardcover books
  • Paperback books
  • DVD films
  • Music CDs
  • Video games
  • Magazines
  • Textbooks
  • VHS / Audio cassettes
  • Empty CD / DVD cases

All donations become property of Washington County. Once items are donated, library staff will determine how they can best be used. Items not added to the collection cannot be returned to donors.

Library donations may be tax deductible. If you need a receipt for tax purposes, library staff can provide one. You assign a value to your contribution.

Used Book Sales

Used library materials and donated items are sold at our library every day, rather than at specific times through annual book sale events. Materials are sold at the following rates: 

Hardcover books$2
Paperback books$1
Children’s materials$.25
CDs and DVDs$2

Proceeds from the book sales are used to support collections and programming across the library system. Book sale customers may not scan, sort, or pile merchandise in a way that impedes the movement of other patrons or causes a disturbance at the library.
