Library Board
Join the Washington County Library Board! We are currently seeking two new members, one from District 3 (Lake Elmo, Oak Park Heights, Lakeland) and one At-Large member from anywhere in Washington County.
As a member of this advisory group you will:
- Provide public support for the library
- Learn about library operations and activities
- Offer input on library policies and strategic planning
- Review material challenges and removal requests
Library Board members attend six meetings per year and receive both a mileage reimbursement and per diem payment for each meeting.
If you’re interested in being considered, you can fill out an application on the Washington County website (works best on a desktop computer – click the blue Apply button in the center of the page). Appointments are made by the Washington County Board of Commissioners.

The Washington County Library Board is an advisory group of Washington County residents appointed by the Washington County Board of Commissioners. The Board of Commissioners is the governing board of the Library and makes decisions with the advice of the Library Director and Library Board.

Members
The Library Board is made up of seven Washington County residents appointed by the Board of Commissioners. The Library Board must have one citizen from each Commissioner District and two citizens at large. One County Commissioner will also be appointed to serve on the board. The seven members of the Library Board are appointed for three-year terms.
Meetings
The Library Board meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The following are the dates for 2022:

Unless otherwise noted, meetings take place at the Washington County Library Administrative Office: 8595 Central Park Place, Woodbury, MN 55125
Notice of each meeting will be posted online and/or emailed to each member no less than four days ahead of a meeting.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Library Board include:
- Understanding library goals.
- Providing input on meeting room policies, capital improvement needs, and strategic plans.
- Providing public support for the library.
- Reviewing materials reconsideration requests.
- Supporting legislation that would bring about the greatest good to the greatest number of libraries.
- Other duties as assigned by the Board of Commissioners.
Operating Procedures
