Mobile Hotspots

Washington County Library has mobile hotspots to help you access the internet outside the library. As of fall 2024, we no longer have Chromebook kits for checkout.

To check out a hotspot

Check our catalog to see if a hotspot is available or to place one on hold.

You can also contact us by phone or email to place a hold or visit your local library to request a hotspot in person. You will receive an email notification when the hotspot is available for pickup.

Loan terms

  • Hotspots can be checked out for three weeks (21 days). Only one Washington County Library hotspot can be checked out at a time.
  • Hotspots that are seven days overdue will be automatically disabled and cannot be used.
  • Hotspot borrowers are subject to Washington County Library's Internet Use Policy.
  • You may be charged $50 to replace a lost or broken hotspot.

Using a hotspot

  • You can connect up to 10 devices to the hotspot. The more devices that are connected, the slower the network will be.
  • Hotspots are recommended for basic internet browsing, email, and other small tasks.
  • Hotspots are not recommended for streaming HD video, downloading or uploading large files, video gaming, or other tasks that require high bandwidth, as these activities will slow down your internet speed.
