[ARCHIVED] Jazz and Friends: Additional Resources on Gender Identity

Join us for books, discussion, and more! Our readings and resources are in partnership with Welcoming School’s Jazz & Friends National Day of School and Community Readings in support of transgender and nonbinary youth in our community. 

The videos, books, and information we’ve provided here are just a drop in the bucket when it comes to all there is to learn and celebrate about the transgender and nonbinary experience. We encourage you to continue to explore gender identityand what it means to you and others—with these excellent websites.   

Gender and Family Project – “Empowering youth, families and communities with gender affirming services, training and research.” 

The Gender Wheel – Children’s Author, Maya Gonzalez has created “A Holistic & Nature-Based Approach to Gender.” You will find beautifully illustrated activities for children, parents, and teachers on the Gender Wheel website. 

The Trevor Project, Gender Identity – “The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people.”

Welcoming Schools, Gender Resources – “Welcoming Schools offers teacher-friendly resources designed to help educators create classrooms and schools that are free of gender stereotypes and gender norms that limit all children. Find resources to help students understand transgender and nonbinary people and to support and affirm all students’ identities across the gender spectrum.”
