June is Pride Month, an annual celebration of LGBTQ+ Americans. Pride Month is celebrated each June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, and has grown to include celebrations across the country – including here in the Twin Cities.
At Washington County Library, we affirm the lives, identities, contributions, struggles, and triumphs of our LGBTQ+ community, while also acknowledging that we still have work to do to make our libraries welcoming, inclusive, and equitable for all.
To help celebrate Pride Month, our librarians have put together several book lists to help readers of all ages learn more about LGBTQ+ history, challenges, triumphs, and stories.
