[ARCHIVED] New longer checkouts and auto-renewals at WashCoLib!

RHS holds shelf TW

Beginning August 1, we're updating our loan periods and renewal policies to let you keep materials longer and make using the library more convenient!

Under our new loan periods, books, audiobooks, magazines and CDs will be checked out for three weeks instead of just two, so you won't run out of time to finish that new title you've been dying to read.

We're also instituting auto-renewals for items that don't have a waiting list, so you don't need to worry about your materials showing up as overdue or lost until they need to come back for another user. Items without a waiting list will automatically renew three times!

We're excited about these changes because we believe they'll make using the library easier for everyone -- you can keep materials longer when you first check them out and you don't need to worry about contacting us or logging into your account to renew materials as frequently.

We'll continue to send email reminders ahead of your due date to let you know whether materials have been auto-renewed or need to be returned.

Below, we've got a summary of the new loan periods and renewal policies for Washington County Library.

Check them out, then check in with your favorite librarian if you have any additional questions. You can also reach out on social media (@WashCoLib on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter), or email a question to AskALibrarian@washcolib.libanswers.com

  • Most items can be renewed up to three times. After your final renewal, you'll receive an email with the final due date.
  • Items on waiting lists and items checked out through interlibrary loan cannot be renewed.
  • You can still renew materials by phone, in person, through our online catalog or our mobile app.
