Memorial Day is finished, which means we're in the final push before summer vacation! We're also in the home stretch getting ready for our busiest season at the library, planning programs and activities to help encourage kids, teens, and adults to make literacy a part of summer plans.
This year, celebrate Summer at Your Library from June 8 to August 10 with an array of programs that encourage reading and exploration for all ages. Here's a quick breakdown of our three different programs for kids, teens, and adults.
(Birth to age 11)
This summer, kids can meet Zorb, a friendly alien who has arrived from a faraway planet. Zorb wants to learn about life here on earth by tagging along on a Summer Adventure at Your Library.
Participants can pick up an activity card at any Washington County Library location beginning June 8. Plan 10 Summer Adventure activities using ideas from our Activity Rocket or brainstorm ideas as a family.
When participants complete 10 activities, bring the game card back to the library to earn a reward. Participants can also enter our end of summer prize drawing for tickets to the Minnesota State Fair, Minnesota Twins, Crayola Experience, or Sea Life Minnesota.
(Ages 12 to 18)
Teens can also earn rewards by completing reading-related activities as part of Summer Adventure: Level Up!
Pick up a game card at your favorite Washington County Library to start planning a summer of library-related activities. Our teen librarians have made some suggestions, but teens can also opt to choose their own adventures to complete the quest.
When teens have completed 6 challenges, bring the game card back to the library to earn a reward. All finishers can also enter our end of summer prize drawing for tickets to the Minnesota State Fair, Minnesota Twins, or Sea Life Minnesota.
(Ages 19 and up)
This is the third year of 10,000 Experiences at Your Library, our adult summer library program.
Pick up a game card at any Washington County Library location beginning June 8 and complete 6 of the 15 challenges to receive a reward. All finishers can enter our grand prize drawing for tickets to the Minnesota State Fair or a Washington County Parks annual pass.
And make sure to keep an eye out for Babe, our summer program mascot, who will be visiting each of our libraries this summer! If you spot Babe, snap a selfie and tag us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram at @WashCoLib.
