[ARCHIVED] Our most popular nonfiction of 2018

Most Popular Books 2018 Adult Nonfiction

As the year winds down we're continuing to look back at 2018 at Washington County Library by rounding up our most popular titles of the year. Today's list is all about adult nonfiction, and features a mix of memoirs, biographies, and books on current trends. Here's what was popular this year:

  1. Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance (349 checkouts)
  2. Garfield Feeds His Face by by Jim Davis (225 checkouts)
  3. Educated by Tara Westover (212 checkouts)
  4. Being Mortal by Atul Gawande (206 checkouts)
  5. Grant by Ron Chernow (205 checkouts)
  6. Leonardo da Vinci by Walter Isaacson (189 checkouts)
  7. Fire and Fury by Michael Wolff (186 checkouts)
  8. How to Instant Pot by Daniel Shumski (180 checkouts)
  9. Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann (171 checkouts)
  10. The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning by Margareta Magnusson (169 checkouts)

One title that seems surprising is Garfield Feeds His Face – a collection of Garfield comic strips published in book format in 2017. That pops up here because comics like that one, everything from Doonesbury to Calvin and Hobbes, are cataloged as adult nonfiction (usually in the 741.5 section, "Cartoons, cariactures, comics").
