[ARCHIVED] Get ready for Summer at Your Library!

With temperatures in the 90s in the forecast already, it can only mean that summer is just around the corner. (We're from Minnesota, of course we're going to start out talking about the weather!)

This year, Washington County residents can celebrate Summer at Your Library from June 9 to August 11 with an array of programs that encourage reading, exploring, and curiosity for all ages. Here's a quick breakdown of our three different programs for kids, teens, and adults.

Summer Adventure Kids: Summer Adventure at Your Library

This summer, kids can meet Zorb, a friendly alien who has just arrived from a faraway planet who wants to learn everything there is to know about life here on earth by tagging along on this year's Summer Adventure at Your Library.

Participants can pick up an activity card at any Washington County Library location (beginning June 9) and complete any 10 activities to earn reward book. Kids who share their thoughts on a book through the "Read Write Draw" activity can be entered in a drawing for tickets to the Minnesota State Fair, Minnesota Twins, Crayola Experience, or SeaLife Minnesota.

This program is designed for kids from birth to age 11. Find more information on our Summer Adventure at Your Library page, or with your local youth services librarian.

Tic Tac TeenTeens: Tic-Tac-Teen

It's game on at the library with Tic-Tac-Teen. Teens can pick up a game card at the library, which includes nine different summer activities. Cross of three spaces in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) to complete the challenge and earn a free reward book. If teens complete the book review activity, they can be entered into a drawing for tickets to the Minnesota State Fair or Minnesota Twins, or for a Fandango movie gift card.

Summer is also a great time to get started reading titles in our Teen Book Ballots program, so you're ready to vote on the favorites during Teen Read Month in October. Pick up a bookmark at the library for a list of 2018 nominated titles, or find a full list online.

This program is designed for teens ages 12 to 18. Find more information on our Tic-Tac-Teen page, or with your local youth services librarian.

Babe Blue OxAdults: 10,000 Experiences at Your Library

This is the second year of 10,000 Experiences at Your Library, our adult summer library program for those ages 19 and up.

Pick up a game card at any Washington County Library location beginning June 9 and complete 6 of the 15 challenges to receive a reward and enter our weekly prize drawings. There will also be a grand prize drawing at the end of the summer for tickets to the Minnesota State Fair, a Washington County Parks annual pass, or a Washington County Library foldable picnic blanket.

You'll also be able to print out a copy of the game card online, or fill out an online form. Those forms will be live on our 10,000 Experiences at Your Library page beginning June 9.

And make sure to keep an eye out for Babe, our summer program mascot, who will be visiting each of our libraries this summer! If you spot Babe, snap a selfie and tag us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram at @WashCoLib.
