Save money, reduce clutter, or keep your carry on light the next time you travel by checking out digital magazines and audiobooks from the library using RBdigital.
Washington County Library’s RBdigital magazine collection contains over 200 titles. Some of these titles are also available as physical magazines in the library (see a full list here), while some are just available digitally. The digital editions of new magazines are released at the same time as the print edition, and they can be downloaded immediately.
The audiobook collection through RBdigital offers fiction and nonfiction for adults, teens, and kids. Audiobooks can be checked out for three weeks, after which they’re automatically returned. You can also easily place holds on titles you’re excited about.
How do I access RBdigital?
You can access RBdigital through apps available for iOS and Android devices, a Kindle Fire app, or online through two websites (one for magazines and another for audiobooks). All Washington County Library users can check out digital materials through RBdigital with a library card.
In order to access the magazines and audiobooks available through RBdigital, you’ll need to create an account. We recommend creating your account on one of the websites. When you create an account, you’ll need to enter your library card, name, ZIP code, and email address, then pick a username and password.
Once you’ve created an account, you can use it to access the other site and sign into the app of your choice.
Insider tips for RBdigital!
We have a few additional tips for making the most of the materials available through RBdigital:
Download titles when you’re on a Wi-Fi network so you don’t accidentally use too much data. This is especially true if you’re traveling – it can be expensive to download over a data network, and there may be issues downloading audiobooks or magazines when you’re outside of the United States.
Digital magazines that have been downloaded have no return dates and will available on your device as long as you’d like. If you run out of space, you can easily return magazines to remove them from your device.
The search feature for both types of materials works best if you know an exact title. If you don’t know the title you’re looking for, both offer a convenient “Browse by Genre” option.
All of these apps work on smartphones, so it’s easy to download an audiobook and play it over your car’s bluetooth system for a long road trip (or just a long commute).
In addition to RBdigital, we offer a number of other apps that can be used to access digital materials using your library card.
