The hard work of many partners came to fruition on Saturday, Jan. 20, when the Washington County Library system opened the doors of Lake Elmo Library as its newest branch location.

Washington County Library conducted a grand re-opening to celebrate the transition to add the Lake Elmo Library to its library system. Community members were invited to visit the library during an open-house event during normal library hours (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), enjoy refreshments, and meet Lake Elmo Library staff.

“We are pleased that connecting the Lake Elmo Library to the Washington County Library system will expand the resources available to residents, and we look forward to a great future through our renewed partnership,” said Commissioner Gary Kriesel, District 3, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The library building was closed for a time to allow work to take place to connect the former city library to the county’s library system. Some of the work resulted in physical changes, such as rearranging furniture, adding a new interior door in the back of the building, and converting old restrooms into data and storage closets. Other updates were operational, such as training staff, adding Lake Elmo materials to the county catalog, and installing a self-checkout machine and new copier.

Lake Elmo Library’s regular hours will be:

Mondays 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Tuesdays 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Wednesdays 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Thursdays 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Fridays 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Saturdays 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Sundays Closed
