Transition to OverDrive

In February, Washington County Library will be moving all digital materials – ebooks, eaudiobooks, and digital magazines – to a single collection accessible through OverDrive's Libby app.

You can now access all of our digital content, plus content from all Twin Cities public libraries, through a single collection called MELSA: Twin Cities Metro eLibrary

Download the Libby app at the links below, then read on to learn how to access the full collection!

What does this mean for my checkouts and holds in cloudLibrary?

Unfortunately, checked out items and holds placed in cloudLibrary will not transition to OverDrive. Once items move to the shared collection, you will not have access to any materials you’ve checked out or downloaded. You will also lose your place on holds lists and have to reserve items again.

Beginning February 10, we will be limiting the number of holds you can place in cloudLibrary. This will not delete any current holds, but will not allow users to place more.

We’re sorry for this inconvenience. We know that changes like these are frustrating, but the move will ultimately give you access to a larger selection of digital materials.

No, you do not need to make a new account. You can sign into the Libby app or libbyapp.com using your Washington County Library card and PIN.

What should I do next to keep reading?

  1. Make a list of the titles you have on hold or flagged in cloudLibrary (here's a helpful worksheet). When the migration is complete, all of these titles will be available in the new, shared collection.
  2. Download the Libby app to your device. If you use a Kindle Fire, download the OverDrive app.
  3. Follow the prompts to find the "MELSA: Twin Cities Metro eLibrary" collection and sign in with your Washington County Library card number and PIN. The default PIN for your account is the last four digits of your phone number.
