External Program Request
Washington County Library provides free programs for patrons of all ages. Programs must align with our strategic plan and Washington County’s overall mission, vision, and values.
Please review the information below before filling out our External Program Request Form (linked below).
Program Criteria
Library staff use the following criteria to make decisions about program topics and speakers:
- Community Partnerships – The library prioritizes offering programs from nonprofit organizations and other community partners.
- Community Interest – Programs must be relevant to the community, and there should be demonstrated popular demand for the topic or subject of the program. Content must be presented in a way that is relevant to the intended audience.
- Space and Budget Restraints – The library must have appropriate space to host the program, and it must fit within current budget guidelines.
- Qualifications and Quality – The presenter should have appropriate qualifications to speak on the topic and provide references to attest to the quality of the program.
- Operational Relevance – Programs should demonstrate historical or educational significance, a connection to other community programs or events, or be related to library collections or resources.
Library Space Guidelines
- Meeting rooms cannot be used for commercial purposes, including direct sale of goods or services.
- Use of tobacco products and consumption of alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
- Library buildings are public facilities. All programs are free public programs.
