Using the library is getting more convenient! Beginning August 1, books, audiobooks, magazines and CDs will be checked out for three weeks instead of just two, so you won't run out of time to finish that new title you've been dying to read.

We're also instituting auto-renewals for items that don't have a waiting list. That way, you won’t need to worry about your materials showing up as overdue or lost until they need to come back for another user. Items without a waiting list will automatically renew three times!

We’re excited about these changes because we think they will make using the library easier for everyone. You can learn more about borrowing procedures on our website.

Summer programs finish August 10

Saturday, August 10 is the last day for kidsteens, and adults to turn in their activity cards for our summer programs. If you complete your challenges, you’ll automatically win a prize (free books!) and be entered into a drawing for tickets to exciting Minnesota events or locations. If you’ve been neglecting your game card, you’ve still got plenty of time – get out this weekend and finish up your summer adventure!

Wildwood closed for construction

On Saturday, July 20, we officially closed Wildwood Library to begin the year-long construction of a new library. Wildwood staff members have been busy packing up the books, furniture, and ephemera in the building for storage or use at other library branches. We’ll break ground on the project in August, with construction lasting about one year. This flyover video gives a peek at what the new library will look like. You can find project updates on our website at WashCoLib.org/Future or sign up to receive periodic updates via email.

Make sure to stop by and say hello – Washington County Library staff will be working throughout the day! The State Fair runs August 22 through September 2.

Fix-It Clinic August 10 in Woodbury

Still hoping to get your bike out this summer? Stop by our Fix-it Clinic on August 10 at R.H. Stafford Library to work with a volunteer on basic bike maintenance like filling up bike tires, patching a flat tube, cleaning and lubricating a bike chain, and making adjustments to moving parts. At a Fix-it Clinic you can also work with volunteer fixers to disassemble, troubleshoot, and repair basic household items like lamps or small household appliances. Find more information in our calendar.

Libraries closed September 2 for Labor Day
