The Bazillions On the Bright Side

Learning, Live in Concert

Get ready to get down to the humorous and educational tunes from kid-friendly rock and rollers, The Bazillions.  The Bazillions' natural rapport with kids keep the audience on the edge or up out of their seats, dancing to the groovy beat! Bring your dancing shoes to either the Park Grove or R.H. Stafford libraries, and boogie to hits such as "Personification" and "Superhero Rock Band."

Lego blocks

Lego Enthusiasts Wanted

Creativity meets construction at our Park Grove Library as we host an open Lego build-a-thon. Who can build the biggest tower? Who can make the fastest Lego car? Bring your imagination and we'll supply the building bricks. This event is best for kids 6 and up but younger, adult-supervised children are welcome, too. Learn more about this event.

needle and thread

Anishinaabe Beadwork

Accomplished artist Julie Boada of the Fond du Lac nation will introduce participants to the Anishinaabe art of beading at this event at the Oakdale Library. Learn how patterns and colors can reflect tribal and family affiliations. Participants will then put their new knowledge to work and create their own beaded pouch. (Sewing experience is helpful, but not necessary.) Registration is required. Learn more about art experiences at the library.

child reading

Ramping up for School

Starting kindergarten can be an exciting, and sometimes intimidating, experience for many children. The "Kindergarten Here I Come" program helps kids get familiar with the school experience through stories, songs, and crafts about the adventures of starting school. Perfect for children ages four to six. This program will be hosted at both the Valley Library and the R.H. Stafford Library.

solar eclipse

Solar Eclipse Watch Party

We've saved you the best seat in the house to witness a rare astronomical phenomenon: the 2017 solar eclipse. Visit our Valley or Hardwood Creek libraries and watch NASA's live stream coverage of the total solar eclipse as it passes through select areas of the United States, or experience the partial solar eclipse with other eclipse-watchers at the library in real time. We'll have a limited number of free safety-certified eclipse glasses available.
