Make sense of your money with our spring financial literacy series! Each event has a different area of focus to help get your financial life in order:
- Tuesday, April 11, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Children face media and consumer pressures at a very young age. This workshop by Family Means gives parents and caregivers a better understanding of what they can do to teach their kids about money. Get tips on helping your children as they develop an understanding of money and how to use it wisely. We'll look at opportunities to make kids money-wise through allowances, healthy money management, savings, and credit awareness. Registration is required.
- Virtual: Monday, April 10, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
- R.H. Stafford Library: Wednesday, April 12, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
This virtual session, presented by FamilyMeans Financial Solutions, will help you begin to prepare your budget for retirement. - Hardwood Creek Library: Saturday, April 15, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
In this class from Lutheran Social Services you'll learn how to create solid financial foundations, from building a minimum emergency reserve all the way to maximizing retirement savings. Use proven economic behavioral strategies and action steps to help you control your spending and set realistic financial goals that build upon each other.
- Tuesday, April 25, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
It’s not about how much you make, it’s what you do with what you have. We’ve seen highly compensated celebrities end up in bankruptcy and teachers and plumbers end up millionaires. Being financially successful requires planning, discipline, knowledge, and practice. In this seminar, we get back to the basics. In this online class, we will go over creating a successful spending plan, living within your means, reducing debt, and getting tips on using credit wisely.
- Wednesday, May 3, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Everyone can benefit from an annual financial health check up. In this workshop with LSS Financial Counseling we will:
- Discuss financial habits to practice monthly, weekly, and daily to build resiliency.
- Identify the kinds of numbers that indicate solid financial health.
- Set goals to support you in reaching your full financial health potential.
This class will be hosted virtually via Zoom and registration is required. Instructions and a link to join the class will be emailed to participants prior to the class.
