This month we’re excited to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month, an annual event where we join with the American Library Association to promote the benefits of a library card for students, families, and learners of all ages.
The theme this year is “Find your Voice at the Library!” In addition to books, magazines, and other physical resources, there are so many ways your library card can help you find your voice.
Here are some of our favorites:
- Computers and internet: All Washington County Library branches have computers for use, as well as Chromebooks and hotspots available for check out. Access the internet to learn something new, share your ideas at work, or connect with your family and friends.
- LinkedIn Learning: Your library card gives you access to LinkedIn Learning and thousands of business, tech, and creative courses - for free! Learn to express yourself in ways that are meaningful to you, such as storytelling, public speaking, or even design.
- Research databases: Explore current events, cutting-edge research, and interactive learning with access to hundreds of online databases. Nail your job interview with JobNow, support your small business with Data Axel Reference Solutions, prep for a school or career exam with LearningExpress Library, and much more!
- Transparent Language: Find your voice – in another language! Use Transparent Language to access interactive, self-paced lessons to learn over 110 different languages, including lessons for ESL learners.
Remember, anyone who lives (or pays property taxes) in Washington County is eligible for a free library card! Visit any library branch or fill out an application online to get started.
