Emergency rental assistance available through Washington County

Renters in Washington County who have experienced COVID-19 related income loss may apply for help to pay for current and past due rent and utilities; including gas, electric and water through the federal CARES Act. More information, including the application, is available on the Washington County website!

Information about the program is also available in Spanish, Hmong, and Somali:

How to Apply

Residents can apply online, by phone, or with a paper application. There is no application deadline; however, applicants are strongly encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure assistance is received timely and before funding runs out. Direct applicants to:

  • Apply online here; or
  • Apply by phone by calling 651-430-6570; or
  • Complete a written WCCS-70000-100 CARES Act Assistance Application Form. Paper applications can be mailed or faxed to 651-430-6515

*A combined Application Form (CAF-5223) or ApplyMN application for Emergency Assistance can also be used to apply for CARES Act funding for rent and utilities. This is a great option for people who also need to request help from other public assistance programs, such as cash or food aid.

  • Have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency; and
  • Currently earn less than 80 percent of the area median income.
