[ARCHIVED] May 2020 construction tour at Wildwood Library

Now that construction at Wildwood Library has mostly moved inside, it can be harder to see the amazing progress being made at this new building.

This video tour showcases the spaces inside Wildwood Library before we start bringing in furniture, artwork, and all of the books! In the video, you’ll see the main room of the building, kids and teens areas, meeting rooms, fireplace, reading nooks, and more.

Although not specifically mentioned in the video, the design of Wildwood Library is well-suited for many of the changes libraries are experiencing due to COVID-19. For example:

  • The faucets, toilets, and paper towel dispensers are all touch-free, and lighting is controlled by sensors that adjust for occupancy and the amount of available daylight.
  • The flexible furniture design will allow us to separate visitors and encourage social distancing.
  • The furniture is covered in fabrics that are environmentally friendly and easy to clean, which will help staff maintain sanitary surfaces.

Construction is on schedule to finish in mid-June with a reopening planned for late summer. We’re excited to see you at Wildwood Library soon!

Washington County has installed a camera at the Wildwood Library site to show construction progress. The camera will be in place until the library is complete in summer 2020.
