The top 10 ebooks we're reading while we stay home

Since mid-March, WashCoLib has seen a 41 percent increase in ebook checkouts on OverDrive and CloudLibrary. We thought it would be fun to take a peek at the ebooks that WashCoLib readers are downloading during quarantine.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

This was our second most popular fiction title of 2019, so it’s not surprising to see that it’s still getting checked out regularly while we’re at home.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

Thanks to #HarryPotteratHome, unlimited copies of the ebook and digital audiobook were available all throughout May on OverDrive. Get started on the series now!

Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty

Hulu is producing a limited series of this book starring Melissa McCarthy and Nicole Kidman that will debut in 2021, so get on the holds list ASAP.

Becoming by Michelle Obama

This memoir was our most popular adult nonfiction title of 2019, so it’s cool to see it’s still going strong. And with the release of the companion Netflix documentary, we don’t anticipate checkouts slowing down any time soon.

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

It doesn’t feel surprising that a light-hearted book about rich people traveling the world is popular while we’re all staying close to home.

Educated by Tara Westover

This memoir also made our most popular nonfiction of 2019 list, and for good reason. It’s a stunning, dark read about growing up in isolation and the role that education can play in helping achieve your dreams.

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

This 2014 Pulitzer Prize winning novel is quite a door-stopper, coming in at 784 pages in print. We’re sure the ebook is at least a little easier to hold!

This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger

William Kent Krueger is a perennial favorite among WashCoLib readers, and his newest has been positively flying off our digital shelves. We also have electronic copies of many of his older titles, if you want to get started there.

The Reckoning by John Grisham

This 2018 book centers around a 1946 murder trial of a prominent war hero in the town of Clanton, Mississippi. The town is in Ford County, the setting of five previous Grisham novels.

Blue Moon by Lee Child

Jack Reacher is at it again! This 2019 title is the 24th book in the series that began back in 1997.
