[ARCHIVED] Wildwood Library to close July 20 for construction

Rendering of proposed design for Wildwood Library

Wildwood Library in Mahtomedi will close on Saturday, July 20 at 5 p.m. for construction.

When the library closes in July, staff will continue with moving preparation and packing. Construction will begin in August and is expected to take one year.

The new $6.5 million building will be constructed on the current library site, 763 Stillwater Road in Mahtomedi.

The planned 12,800 square foot building includes a children’s room and teen space, a garden, two meeting rooms, three small study rooms, and space for outdoor programs.

Library Services during Construction

During the closure, Washington County Library will offer services to the community at the Mahtomedi District Education Center, 1520 Mahtomedi Avenue. Library users can pick up holds and check out other materials from a small collection during the DEC’s normal business hours.

Beginning in September, Wildwood Library staff will hold two weekly storytimes on Monday mornings – family storytime at 10:30 a.m. and baby storytime at 11:15 a.m.

Library staff are still finalizing plans for other regular programs in the Mahtomedi area during construction. We'll have more information about programs ahead of the closure on July 20.

Wildwood Library patrons can also visit nearby Washington County Library branches, including Lake Elmo Library (3537 Lake Elmo Ave N), Oakdale Library (1010 Heron Ave N), and Hardwood Creek Library (19955 Forest Rd N, Forest Lake).
