Minnesota libraries are looking for the state's best self-published books in adult fiction and young adult fiction through the Minnesota Author Project

The 2019 contest kicked off on April 1, 2019, and submissions will be accepted through May 31, 2019. The winners in each category of the contest will receive:

  • A $1,000 cash prize, sponsored by the Minnesota Library Foundation and BiblioBoard.
  • Honors at the Public Library Association Conference 2020 reception in Nashville.
  • Opportunities to promote your book(s) in Minnesota public libraries.
  • Inclusion in a full-page print spread in Library Journal.
  • Inclusion and promotion in Indie Minnesota, a digital collection of local authors available on BiblioBoard Library.

If available, print copies of the winning books will be purchased and made available for checkout through Minnesota’s public libraries.

Each book that is submitted to the contest must be indie-published, in the adult fiction or young adult fiction genre, written by a Minnesota resident, and available in either ePUB or PDF format. You can submit your work online at
