Board of Commissioners will consider moving Valley Library within Lakeland Plaza

At an upcoming meeting, the Washington County Board of Commissioners will consider moving Valley Library to a new location in Lakeland Plaza rather than expand the library through renovation.

In November 2018, the Board of Commissioners approved a new 10-year lease agreement for Valley Library to remain in Lakeland Plaza. This agreement would expand the library from 2,500 square feet to 3,500 square feet by moving an existing wall into the neighboring store, formerly home of Lakeland Antiques.

As project plans have developed, it’s become clear that it’s more beneficial to move Valley Library into the space formerly occupied by the antique store rather than expanding through renovation. This means Valley Library would move to occupy an approximately 4,000 square foot space adjacent to its current location in Lakeland Plaza.

This change to the lease agreement for Valley Library is not official until it’s approved by the Board of Commissioners. This item is expected to be on an agenda in mid-March.
